About Us
Over 20 years ago Alice Garrett established Alice Caroline with a vision to bring the wonderful Liberty of London prints she had known and loved since childhood to everyone. The business has come a long way from where it started out on Alice’s kitchen table in the Cotswolds but at the core are Alice’s dedication and passion for all things Liberty.
Alice Caroline is proudly the only UK distributor for Liberty fabrics and champions ethical and sustainability initiatives, with many of the accessories, kits and homeware made in-house at our studio in the Cotswolds.
Alice Caroline has grown from the vision and passion of our founder & director Alice Garrett
I have always had a passionate love of Liberty fabric with its heritage, beautiful, detailed designs and I love that it’s an enduring British brand. As a child I would pore over my grandmother’s stash of Liberty fabrics and loved visiting the Liberty store in London with my mum.
When I first started Alice Caroline I knew I wanted to make Liberty fabrics more readily available. I first produced Liberty fabric bundles in my own colour palettes and then quickly realised that there was a need for kits for people who are just starting out in sewing. It was a natural development to go one step further and create our own ranges of accessories and homewares made from Liberty fabrics.
Ethical practice has always been central to our brand from the beginning, right from creating an ethical and flexible workplace at our Cotswold studio. Many of our products created in-house or in a local, ethically audited factory. All the fabric leftover from production is saved and everything is used - we never put any fabric in the bin.
We are the only authorised distributor of Liberty fabrics in the UK and work closely with them so we know that Liberty fabrics takes responsible production seriously and they are part of the Better Cotton Initiative.
It was also a huge honour to be awarded The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
